WOMEN BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES
Day of Service: Every year, JLB partners with another local nonprofit to help them revitalize their space.
Food Drive: Each spring since 1989, the JLB has partnered with area food banks and Food City to college nonperishable food items.
Kids In The Kitchen: This initiative will empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices. In turn, it will help reverse childhood obesity and its associated health issues.
Little Free Library: This national program provides a "take a book, return a book" gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories.
Read Across America: In celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday in March, JLB members visit area elementary schools to read Dr. Seuss books to classrooms.
Read for the Record: Jumpstart's national campaign, Read for the Record, is one time of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy by reading on the same date to pre-K and kindergarten classes.
Thanksgiving Dinner Spirit of Giving: Thanksgiving baskets are assembled for needy families in the community.
Wellmont Hospice House Meal Train: Wellmont Health System’s hospice care experts are committed to honoring life for all patients and to providing families the support they need during their important times of transition. Each month, JLB provides a meal train.
